This year, she rekindled the spirit of compassion and activism with “MommiNation’s ‘The Mommi Brunch,’’ a resounding call to action to confront the ongoing crisis of Black Maternal Mortality in the United States.
The event was an immersive experience of food and fun with its heart entrenched in the impactful discussions led by distinguished panelists. The panel featured Bravo TV Star and renowned Gynecologist, Dr. Jackie Walters, Media Personality Rashan Ali, and Maternal Health Advocate Charles Johnson. Together, they courageously confronted the pressing issue of the current state of healthcare for Black Women and supporting Black women and families facing pregnancy complications.
The event’s essence lay in the exploration of a collective path to end Black Maternal Health disparities. It was an intersection of healthcare, advocacy, and community support, fostering an environment where change transcended the realm of possibility to become an inevitability. The panelists emphasized the vital importance of solidarity and advocacy, reiterating that Black mothers should unquestionably receive the care and support they deserve throughout pregnancy and childbirth.
One truth emerges from the Mommi Brunch which is unity is a powerful force for transformation. Together, we possess the capacity to rewrite the narrative of Black Maternal Health.
